Hello, it's been awhile. Life is good. Winter has almost disappeared, with the beginnings of Spring starting to show. Matthew and I spent last weekend exploring Detroit and finding new places to call our own. We visited the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory on Bell Isle for a tour of flora and fauna, all beautifully maintained in a greenhouse & botanical garden built in 1904. Besides a few days of exploration in the past few months, I have been focusing on work and research development. My lab and I recently contributed an article for Ted Weekend on Huffington Post (here). Despite my busy schedule, the summer should see a return of vintage dresses, sandals, and wicker baskets-some of which will be shared with you.

Matthew is going out of town for a week in May and I'm planning a fun girls only slumber party for one of the nights he is gone. I'm imagining champagne, manicures, maybe a little Ouija board, and of course many, many photos of the boudoir babes. What are some of your favorite sleepover memories?

Tea time adventures call for tea time attire and a frilly Alice in Wonderland dress did just the trick. Here are some details of my outfit from Saturday's girls only tea party. Lady like white lace and delicate touches completed this sugar sweet look. It's always fun to have a reason to dress up on the weekends instead of staying in pajamas until noon. I'm so glad that Spring is here!

Last August we had our very first ladies high tea party at the Neiman Marcus rotunda. We all had a lovely time and vowed to do it again soon. Well, we were finally able to get some ladies together (we missed those that couldn't make it!) and this month's high tea adventure led to The Leland Tea Company. A wonderful little tea house in the downtown area of San Francisco, Leland's is filled with 1920s imagery and delicious scents. We enjoyed cucumber sandwiches, scones with jam, and delicious house made teas named "My Fair Lady" and "Kookiedoodle". My favorite Saturday's are ones spent with such fun and sweet friends. Fingers crossed that the next one happens before six months go by.

I have been feeling down for a while... overwhelmed with work, family health issues, and missing Jen something terrible. It was nice to get out of the house on Sunday, which turned out to be so pretty and sunny, especially for a day in February. Isla and I met up for coffee and thrift shopping and some much needed girl time together. Of course we couldn't leave out my darling dog ZZ, who also wanted a day out with the girls. And who could say no to that precious face?

Love Letters

This year will be my first Valentine's Day as a married lady. Matthew and I usually keep the day of love pretty low key. Maybe dinner at a restaurant but more likely cooking together at home and maybe catching up on some episodes of Portlandia. While some people may grumble and call it a Hallmark holiday, I can't say I agree. I wouldn't say no to a day committed to heart shaped objects and I wouldn't pass up a box of chocolates and pretty flowers on any day! I hope you enjoy your Valentine's Day, no matter what you're doing.

Hello, and happy February! As I'm sure you've noticed it's been  pretty quiet on the blog these last few weeks. Nothing serious, just lack of time and daylight hours. And of course missing my blog buddy something crazy. I can't wait for the next time Jen and I can be together. For now I'll have to convince my husband to snap a few photos when we're out on an afternoon adventure. This weekend we took a stroll up to the top of Mount Davidson. With an elevation of 928 feet, it's the highest natural point of the city. It's hard to believe that this park is located in the middle of San Francisco because it seems so remote and wild. Next time we go I'll have to get some photos of the incredible city views to share with you. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
